Tyrewise - Stewardship fee

The Tyrewise stewardship fee is a fee charged in New Zealand on new regulated tyres to fund their responsible collection, transport, and processing for recycling or reuse, replacing ad hoc disposal costs. The fee varies by tyre weight and size, with a standard passenger tyre fee being $6.65 + GST. This fee is paid at the point of purchase, and from September 1, 2024, Tyrewise will fully operate to collect and process these end-of-life tyres, making their disposal free for consumers who have paid the fee.
